A solo exhibition by Sumire Akita, a ceramicist based in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. Drawing on the traditions of Karatsu and Arita ware, her light and lively pieces are informed by a fresh, sensitive touch. The painterly decoration—rendered in free, flowing brushwork—depicts wildflowers and plants from around her home. Her work is fired in a kiln she built herself over two years. Expect a cool, summery display of tableware.
