He discovered ceramics while studying architecture at Tokyo University of Science, and after working on production and planning at a restaurant's in-house kiln, he built his own kiln in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture in 2011. He creates porcelain that draws on his architectural sense of form. His signature "komorebi" series employs the firefly-hand (hotarude) technique, resulting in thin, delicate vessels that allow light to filter through. He has been selected for the Tableware Festival and the Choza Prize.
