Born in 1974 in Hayama, Kanagawa Prefecture. After moving to Canada during high school, he returned to Japan and studied ceramics at Kyoto Seika University. He established a kiln in Akiya, Yokosuka, later moved to Hayama, and is now based in Bunkyo, Tokyo. His work is defined by slab-building and hand-building techniques, stamp-printed motifs of plants and flowers, and hand-painted染付 (underglaze blue) decoration. The warm, organic irregularities that come from forming without machinery give his pieces a distinctive character. He actively holds solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan.
