A solo exhibition by ceramicist Shigeo Tanaka, whose work draws on the historical ceramics of the Joseon Dynasty and Momoyama-era tea ware to create pieces of quiet, composed beauty. New works are presented that honor the depth of history and nature, seeking the beauty that dwells within. Tanaka lives in an old farmhouse in Asuka Village, Nara, where he has built his own anagama and downdraft wood-fired kilns — and that clarity of spirit is palpable in every piece.
